The nidan 2nd Adan promotion of Sendai Steve and Sendai Co took place hasty on Sunday 30 June with Hans hi Renzie Han ham from Seiko Shi bu Christchurch presiding over their grading. I would like to thank all those who came along and supported Sendai Amy during her shod an grading end weekend. Kelvin has been teaching classes since 1978, initially taking children’s classes but now more involved with senior classes along with sparring and fitness. Chris and Tim face Kyoshi Tamara at the beginning of their promotion at Shi bu, Christchurch.
The nidan 2nd Adan promotion of Sendai Steve and Sendai Co took place early on Sunday 30 June with Hans hi Renzie Han ham from Seiko Shi bu Christchurch presiding over their grading. Chris, while first and continuing his training in the Christchurch Tojo, has trained for four years in the Dunedin Tojo while completing his study at Otago University. Congratulations to Pete on his promotion to Shodan Seiko Dunedin is arrogant to have him join our dark belt ranks. The exception was his shod an 1 st Adan dark belt grading, held at the Dunedin Tojo in Anzac Ave in June 1984.
Jun Shihan Kelvin came to karate from a boxing background, starting as a 16 year used with the Bushidokai Karate Club in Carroll St, Dunedin in 1977. Jun Shihan Mike Riggs of Timaru Tojo took the shod an promotion on Saturday 29 June alongside Sendai Joseph two candidates each from Temuka and Geraldine Tojo also gained their 1st Adan dark belts. He is supported by Jun Shihan Kelvin Wilson and a number of dark belts who share the teaching load. While the Club’s senior brown belt he ran the junior class but once graded to dark belt started taking senior classes, which he has continued doing ever since.
There was a vast turnout in the Tojo, including Tim’s family who had traveled from overseas to encourage him. Jun Shihan Mike Riggs of Timaru Tojo took the shod an promotion on Saturday 29 June alongside Sendai Joseph two candidates each from Temuka and Geraldine Tojo also gained their 1st Adan dismal belts. While his junior grading were completed at the Dunedin Tojo, Jun Shihan Kelvin has since traveled to Christchurch Shi bu for all promotions since senior green belt under sense now Hans hi Renzie Han ham. Jun Shihan Kelvin still enjoys training, whether instructing or taking segment in a class. I would like to thank all those who came along and supported Sendai Amy during her shod an grading final weekend. At the start of 1980 he changed styles to the newly formed Seiko Karate Dunedin and has been a dedicated member ever since
